Welcome to Southsea Class one of our Key Stage 3 classes here at Redwood Park Academy.

Summer 2024

Hi!! Welcome to Southsea Class, we are a year 10 class, and we are all looking forward to being year 11 next year. WE have had an absolutely amazing year and have worked our socks off!! WE have become fantastic, independent and mature young people who are always willing to support and help others.

This year Southsea class have created our own newspaper, collected reports and typed up our stories. We have practiced our money skills in the Southsea Shop and have earned money each day, learning to budget and keep on track with our ledgers, showing our credits and debits each week. Southsea Class have also been on lots of trips, we have walked to Cosham to buy our own diaries to keep diary entries in, we have gone kayaking, we have visited all the local colleges and had a fantastic taster day at Fareham college. We have also enjoyed sports day and all the inter-team events like the read-a-thon and the arts week trail. We all agreed that we really enjoyed our trip to the cinema to watch Lyle Lyle Crocodile after we read the book and worked on lots of different aspects of storytelling language.

This is what some of the pupils had to say...

Chelsea’s highlight was her options lesson, in particular STEM. “I really enjoyed going out on trips for STEM with Sarah, she is great at teaching.”

Bradley really enjoyed his role as Head Boy this year and said “Year 10 has made me really grow up and be more responsible to show a good example. I have even worn school uniform all year!”

Next year Southsea Class are all really looking forward to being year 11 and working hard and learning lots more to help them when they leave and go to college. They are looking forward to trips out and travel training and learning to be more independent.

Autumn 2023

Hello and welcome to Southsea Class!! Southsea Class’s team consists of their teacher, Susan and their wonderful teaching assistants, Jack, and Katie. 

Southsea Class is a year 10 class of 8 boys and 2 girls.  All very different with their own characters and interests.  There are a few future footballers, some budding authors, artists, and historians.

This is the start of the Southsea class’s journey into KS4.  They have now got a lot more choice over the lessons that they do, based on the choices they made for their options this year.  They range from catering to Duke of Edinburgh, to media studies. They also all get to take part in dance lives this year, with a choice of either in front of the camera or behind the scenes.

We are all looking forward to the year ahead, and focusing on getting to know our own strengths and skill sets as well as working with others around school.  Concentrating on our Care, Courage, and Challenge qualities.
