Last Tuesday, Redwood hosted guests from the Tree Council who came and helped us set up our Community Tree Nursery.
As one of three outstanding Beacon Schools, we have been funded to grow a willow bed of 120 plants which we can use to supply other schools and local groups with cuttings for growing, or with plant material for craft and building projects.
We are excited about being able to grow and plant our own willow domes and tunnels in a few years time.
They also funded the equipment, plants and training for us to graft 50 new apple trees using cuttings from our existing orchard. These trees will be ready to gift and plant out in 18 months’ time.
A big thanks to the Tree Council for all their support and generous funding.
