Horticulture update:
Spring 2025
Late winter can feel dark and cold outside, but the first green shoots of a new year are showing this week. Bluebells and the first fruit tree buds are coming out and our mint patch is sending up shoots with the promise of fresh tea to come.
We have been busy planting 3-year-old tree saplings. Our annual gift from the Woodland Trust of 600 young trees have been added to the field edge hedges - while they are only small now, the ones we planted four years ago are already taller than the year 7s!
In the garden we have been putting the first of our vegetable crops in - garlic and onions. Every year we harvest the onions in time for Redfest’s BBQ, so make sure you try them with your sausage this summer!
Luke’s group has been adding new spring bulbs to our playground planters, iris and freesia flowers to mix in with the existing daffodils and crocuses. We hope you enjoy our hard work next time you are in school.
Happy gardening!
