Wednesday 5 February 2025 Horticulture update: Spring 2025 Late winter can feel dark and cold outside, but the first green shoots of a new year are showing this week. Bluebells and the first fruit tree buds are coming out and our mint patch is sending up shoots with the promise of fresh tea to come.

Friday 31 January 2025 Pupil work experience at New Place Hotel Cascades class have been incredibly busy this term - we have been hard at work, literally! We are currently applying our skills from Work Related Learning lessons to a real-life work placement at the New Place Hotel.

Thursday 23 January 2025 Life Skills Room Revamp Life Skills has had an exciting revamp at Redwood with our new fully functional life skills apartment! This is an exciting opportunity for all pupils as they will now be able to work on their independent life skills such as making beds and washing and ironing clothes. Some classes have already had the chance to use the apartment during their weekly lesson.

Friday 20 December 2024 Recycled Christmas Tree Competition All classes have been working hard to create a Christmas tree from recycled resources. They have all been used to decorate this years Christmas Grotto. We have put some photos below so you can see how fantastic some of the entries were!

Friday 29 November 2024 NHS 'Together against racism' event Tara went to the 'Together against racism in the NHS' event this week. The event was developed to help local Trusts become actively anti-racist organisations and to better understand what needs improving and what needs to change in their mental health services.

Friday 29 November 2024 Diwali Donations Thank you to the National Museum of The Royal Navy in Portsmouth as well as Lucky Choudhury for their kind donations of Diwali gifts that were given out to our pupils and gratefully received.

Friday 15 November 2024 Year 10 - UNLOC Pupil Leadership Session Year 10 pupils enjoyed their first session with UNLOC – Pupil Leadership. They engaged with pupils from secondary schools across Hampshire and got to speak to different guest speakers, practicing their teamwork and leadership skills. They all were an asset to Redwood Park Academy and can’t wait to go again!

Thursday 7 November 2024 Half-termly coffee mornings Our Family Support Worker, Tara will now be holding half-termly coffee mornings and it'd be great to see as many as possible of our parents and carers there.

Friday 4 October 2024 Horticulture Since returning in September, we have been enjoying the fruits of last year’s hard work. It is Harvest time outside and our growing spaces have been very productive.

Friday 19 July 2024 Prom 2024 Our Leavers Prom was the final celebration for our Year 11 pupils and was thoroughly enjoyed by everybody! They all turned up in style and enjoyed a wonderful 3-course meal surrounded by their friends and Redwood staff who supported them throughout their years with us.

Friday 12 July 2024 Playground Proms concert On Thursday 4th July, we enjoyed an amazing concert performed by Graffiti Classics from Playground Proms. They played a variety of classical music with a twist, giving us the opportunity to dance and get close up to the instruments. Lots of fun was had by all!

Friday 21 June 2024 STEM Event STEMunity organised an amazing event at The Portsmouth Academy. Professionals from RC Vision, The Royal Navy Atlantic rowing team and The Drone Rules provided 3 interactive activities. The pupils taking STEM as an option in key stage 4 attended the event to celebrate their success in completing the qualification and to have exposure to STEM careers.

Thursday 6 June 2024 D-Day Celebrations The highlight the week has been our D-Day celebrations! A group of pupils attended the National Memorial Service at Southsea Common on Wednesday 5th June to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day and even got to see some of the royal family members!

Thursday 9 May 2024 Ferny Crofts Residential Our Year 9 and 10 pupils had a wonderful time at the Ferny Crofts Activity Centre on residential. They learned lots of new skills and had lots of fun, taking part in a range of really exciting activities throughout the week including skiing and high-ropes! The group also took a trip to Beaulieu Motor Museum!

Thursday 2 May 2024 Fareham College Taster Session (Hairdressing) On Monday, 6 year 10 and 11 pupils went to Fareham College to take part in a Taster session in Hairdressing. Everyone was quite nervous but once they started they were incredible. All pupils were lead through how to wash, blow dry and straighten hair and also how to use the straighteners to curl hair. They all enjoyed themselves and the course tutor was very impressed with them all. Well done, and good luck to our future hairdressers.

Friday 26 April 2024 Portsmouth Student Leadership Network Event It was great to attend the second Portsmouth Student Leadership Network event with some of the year 8 pupils. The pupils got to work alongside other secondary schools in Hampshire and learn some great leadership skills such as positive communication skills and the importance of understanding anfd wokring as part of a team. They won a prize for the teamwork tasks and stoof up and made a small presentation in front of the other pupils. Well done Year 8 - you represented Redwood Park Academy fantastically!

Thursday 7 March 2024 Moor Farm On Thursday, Museum and Mountbatten class visited Moor Farm, supported by the Countryside Trust. Pupils learned about the workings of a dairy farm and sustainable farming. The pupils absolutely loved the day! They got to meet the herd, see how milk is taken from a cow and the journey of products made from milk. The children were particularly excited about touching the calves. At the end of the day they’d made such good friends with a calf that it escaped and tried to come back to Redwood with us!

Tuesday 17 October 2023 Redwood Visits All England Tennis Club Our Sports Leaders visited the All England Tennis Club, Wimbledon Inspiration Event today where they worked alongside other pupils from across the country. They had the chance to visit the Tennis museum, visit Centre court and take part in team challenges.
