Welcome to Museum Class one of our Key Stage 3 classes here at Redwood Park Academy.

Summer 2024

Museum class have enjoyed a fantastic year together. The pupils have connected in meaningful friendships and enjoyed growing together in year nine. They have taken part in so many different types of learning opportunities from local visits, Lego competitions, forest school, and absolutely tried their best in numeracy and literacy.

The highlights of the year have been taking part in all the wonderful STEM enrichment opportunities across the city. The pupils built on the work-life skills by meeting professionals from STEM industries, collaborated with pupils from across different schools in the city, and built a valued working relationship with a professional from Lego education. Another highlight of the year is the friendships they are formed as a class. Each pupil demonstrates how to be a good friend with kindness and being helpful towards one and other.

The class particularly enjoyed the residential offered to them. Most of the pupils took part in this and came back beaming with happiness and feeling more confident and independent. The class team noticed this and felt that the residential was an excellent way to help the pupils build on their life skills.

The class are looking forward to meeting their new year 10 class teacher, finding out who is in their class for next year and taking part in the options lessons.

This is what some of the pupils had to say...

Ben - ‘’It was good. It has been the best year so far and they really pushed me to learn. I made good friends.’’

Luca – ‘’It was super fun and I’ve made some new friends. The best thing were the teachers and teaching assistants.’’

Autumn 2023

What a great start to term! The pupils have settled into routines and are already creating and exploring within the year 9 curriculum. The terms topic is Brilliant Bodies, the pupils will explore this through fun interactive hands-on learning experiences. Life Skills is looking at how to manage our time with interests and hobbies. The pupils have explored all sorts of games, how to interact with each other and knowing when to take a rest break.  In Museum class, we take a practical hands-on approach to learning building in life skills and practical activities in preparation for young adulthood. Outdoor learning and forest visits will be a big part of our adventures this year. Taking the learning into the wild helps pupils to regulate their bodies and minds which supports readiness for learning.  Everyone is super excited to be back and learning in the classroom and we look forward to sharing our news with you all.
