Redwood Park Academy

Gunwharf

Class Teacher: Zoe Stevens

Welcome to Gunwharf Class one of our Key Stage 3 classes here at Redwood Park Academy.

Spring 2025

Gunwharf have had a fantastic start to the Spring term. Launching the year with the topic “Heroes and Villains”. We have watched and read about many different villains such as Captain Hook, The big bad wolf and Feathers Mcgraw. Gunwharf have worked hard at developing their sentence writing through making wanted posters for these characters – They even made some wanted posters for some teachers!!

In project, we are learning about laws and rules through investigating the British Monarchy and thinking about what rules we make if we were King or Queen for the day. We had lots of fun designing our crowns – which were fit for a King or Queen! We are ready now to make our own set of laws!

We are looking forward to this exciting topic as after half term we will be moving onto Superheroes!

Autumn 2024

Gunwharf class have had a fantastic start to the new Autumn Term. They have spent lots of time getting to know Redwood Park Academy and our favourite places so far is the garden and the music room! Gardening with Ed has a favourite where, the class made their own apple juice from freshly picked apples.

Gunwharf Class are really enjoying their topic this term of “Festivals and Celebrations”. They worked hard as a team to create lanterns and biscuits to take to our shared Stunning Start where KS3 came together and celebrated the moon.

The coming week the class will be learning about the Hindu festival called “Navratri” – where they will be practicing some traditional dance moves.

Summer 2024

Gunwharf have had the most fantastic year this year. We have grown in confidence, made lots of new friends and learnt lots of cool new facts to do with our topics! We have been out in the community a lot more this year, such as going to local shops to practice our money exchange skills, crossing local roads safely and even some visits to castles and forts to explore all the amazing sights they have to show. We are excited to continue our journey next year!

This is what some of the pupils had to say...

Alexander - "Its been a very good year! I love going out on trips. Our Maths lessons have been really good fun!"

Rhys - "This year has been fun, I love all the art we have got to do, I have got really good at drawing. Also Redfest was so fun and a good way to end the year!"
