Redwood Park Academy

D-Day

 Class Teacher: Luke Thomas

Welcome to D-Day Class one of our Key Stage 3 classes here at Redwood Park Academy.

Academic Year 2025/2026

D-Day class have had a very busy term.

In our topic, we have studied the life of people in Britain in Victorian times and read A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens which has proved a big hit with all the students.

Students have enjoyed cooking a range of tasty dishes in cookery lessons from savoury hotdogs and spicy noodles to sweet cupcakes.

In the garden, our young people have made and tasted apple juice and made bracelets using wooden beads sourced from elder branches.

Students explored modelling with 3D materials such as paper, card and terracotta clay in art lessons and designed and created terrifying 3D monsters.

In PSHE students have identified good hygiene routines from brushing their teeth twice a day to using deodorant, and located places in the community where they can purchase personal hygiene products.

Overall, D-Day students have grown in confidence and independence from week to week. They have built stronger relationships within the class, learning how to work as a group and show respect and kindness towards one another.
