Redwood Park Academy

Cascades

Class Teacher: Harriet Leadbeater

Welcome to Cascades Class one of our Key Stage 4 classes here at Redwood Park Academy.

Spring 2025

Cascades class have been incredibly busy this term - we have been hard at work, literally! We are currently applying our skills from Work Related Learning lessons to a real-life work placement at the New Place Hotel.

We have been working especially hard on understanding what it means to work professionally. We wear our uniforms with pride and understand what it means to follow a rota and work in teams. We have discovered that we can motivate each other by providing positive feedback and recognising our successes as we go! We have also been learning about wages and what it means to give our best effort at work - we learned that turning up to work is not enough, we need to apply ourselves!

We are so proud of each other and look forward to sharing more on our next update!

Autumn 2024

We have thoroughly enjoyed getting back into the swing of things and we are so exited to finally be top of the school!
We have already talked about the importance of being good role models for younger students and for helping each other in the school community.
Our ambition this term is to continue exploring different work experience activities. We are already practicing for a shift at a well known coffee shop!
We are also beginning to prepare for our accreditations and are beginning to think more about our college options!

Summer 2024

Cascades have had a fantastic year, as Year 10. Each and every one of us have matured and learned new skills ready for Year 11. Our highlights include: running a food delivery service, rock climbing at Fort Purbrook, Dance Live, Redfest and winning Arts Week!

We are so excited to be staying together as a class for Year 11 - and we look forward to welcoming another student to our group in September! We are a hardworking class and we are very grateful to everyone at home that supports our learning. We hope you all have a restful summer and we look forward to updating you again when we start our final year at Redwood!

This is what some of the pupils had to say...

A couple of comments from our students are: 'I've enjoyed doing plant care! and I have enjoyed going to Cosham to buy games for our classroom' also, 'I've enjoyed English this year, I liked writing our own diaries!'
